THE TRIP OF A LIFETIME

2/24/2016

I've been sorting, prioritizing, and purging in an effort to eliminate all but the bare necessities for our upcoming trip.  After all, it will be the trip of a lifetime; a trip to inspire me to rethink who I am, where I’m going, how I see the world.
The trip of a lifetime?

Our trip to the Holy Land in 2014 was truly life altering.
Maybe for you it’s walking Jerusalem’s Via Dolorosa; perhaps climbing Mount Kilimanjaro; hiking the Great Wall of China; going on safari in Africa; exploring Machu Picchu, Easter Island, the Galapagos Islands; lounging in a hammock in Bora Bora; skiing the French Alps; cycling through Italy; achieving a state of true Zen in Bhutan.

Sure, my baggage will fit in the overhead bin!
For me, right now, my trip of a lifetime (let’s just say I spent a lifetime getting to this point) is making a 7 mile-trek from what was to what will be; from a big empty nest (well, can we overlook the basement?) to a smaller, new chapter.

This is it - 8 boxes! Yeah, right!
Packing light has been a challenge.  Take only memories (yeah, right!), leave only footprints (and the ‘frig, washer, and dryer).

“You’re selling my childhood home,” my son, the last of the Mohicans, lamented when Jim and I shared the news with the family several months ago.

“It’s yours for the right price,” I offered.

My mantra is never look back (no pillar of salt for me); and less is more.

Less stuff; more experiences.

Travel fits very nicely into that paradigm.

Here’s to more travel, and less packing!

Take only memories; and hundreds of pictures with the wonderful people you meet along the way!

Ah, yes, Best Buy! I prefer to think about all the travel fun we've had and we're going to have. Love this photo of is. It reflects just how crazy we are together.
