I woke up in my own bed this morning. All four posters greeted me without fanfare. There were no mountains touching the sky, no brooks babbling, no bison grazing, and no crisp morning encouraging a walk and a hearty helping of fresh air.
Chicago is currently steeped in heat and humidity; and as usual, a hefty helping of cornfields.
On the plus side, Jimmy was still part of the picture. Most of my heart belongs to Jimmy. And of course the kids and grandkids, extended family, and friends that feel like family all have their fair share of my heart, too. Did I mention I love traveling, photography, history, Tiny Fey, and cupcakes? Okay, cupcakes are now a thing of the past, given gluten and I have parted ways. If and when chocolate has to go, I go too! But I digress.
I left a piece of my heart in Glacier National Park; and Yellowstone; and Grand Teton. I know; doesn’t sound as romantic as, say, I left my heart in San Francisco. But the sentiment is there, mingled in with all the beauty and majesty and wonder of the canyons and meadows and mountains and streams and wildlife; the best the last 65 million years had to give to the planet.
Alas, I’ll have to make the most of the day I’ve been given. And what a blessing today is. How about some Fun Fotos? It is Friday, after all.
