Yes, for a change it was refreshing to see Chicago in the limelight for something as American as hot dogs, baseball, and apple pie. In case you haven’t heard, Chicago’s own Jackie Robinson West ballplayers brought home the trophy this week for U.S. Little League Champions.
The peewees got a hero’s’ welcome from 10,000 fans (and the usual politicians: the governor, the mayor, aldermen and hopefuls) via a tickertape parade. The ballplayers are as humble as they are adorable, the youngest just 11, the oldest 13. It’s wonderfully refreshing to see their shy, wholesome smiles when blinded by the limelight.
Yes, it’s been a week to celebrate. Let’s keep the party going with some Fun Fotos today!
