I was getting a headache just listening to the tapping. For the life of me, I don’t know how woodpeckers don’t suffer migraines! I was wishing one nasty migraine on this pesky woodpecker, anything to sideline his morning meal at the crack of dawn. The instinctive behavior gave new meaning to the expression, “bird brain.”
Next thing I knew, Jimmy flew out of bed, raised the blinds, opened the window and shouted, “Geeet!” Not “Get;” “Geeet!”
I buried my face in my pillow to hide the chuckle that escaped as all pecking ceased along with Jimmy’s warbling. Of course, as soon as Jimmy got back in bed, the woodpecker got back to dining on the bugs harbored inside the cedar siding with renewed vigor; tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap.
While my uncontrolled giggling didn’t muffle the ensuing tapping, it did bring just enough levity to the moment to move us both beyond the frustration that was also part of that moment.
And speaking of levity, it’s Fun Foto Friday! If your day started anything like mine, you need a reason to chuckle, too. Hope these do the trick.
Have a great weekend. See you Monday. Okay, I won’t really see you, see you, but I do know you’re out there.
