Meet the newest member of our family, my week-old granddaughter, Emerson.
Ask moms; newborns are a ton of work! And I’m not even the one who gave birth, much less the one doing the breastfeeding.
I’m the one on diaper duty. Do you have any idea how often newborns pee and poop? It’s got to be somewhere close to the frequency with which guys think about sex. And when newborns are not peeing or pooping, they’re looking to eat or sleep. That pretty much sums up the first week of life for Emerson – eat, sleep, pee, poop; repeat every two hours. It’s the ‘repeat every two hours’ piece of the equation that leaves very little time for anything else.
Despite the peeing and pooping, a newborn is still the sweetest smelling thing this side of heaven. The sweetest sound? When Emerson coos or squeaks or whimpers or sighs as she burrows into the soft contours of my body looking for someplace comfy to sleep.
But I digress. It’s Fun Foto Friday! My granddaughter had so much to say.
