FUN FOTO FRIDAY:  OUTTAKES FOR THE WEEK 4/29/13

5/3/2013

Wow!  I finally managed to pry Jimmy out of the basement for a little trip into the city  (Chicago) later today.  The flood in our basement two weeks ago and the resulting restoration efforts, some of which we’ve contracted out, some we’re doing ourselves, has really put a damper on the travel.  All work and no fun is . . . no fun.

The only place I’ve been going lately (other than stir crazy) is the gym.  My trainer has given me a whole new appreciation for the expression “working my butt off.”   I can only hope!   Of course, as long as I'm working so hard, I wouldn't mind adding a few more anatomical parts to my order.

I had no idea this was such a big deal (not much experience in the weight department, at least the lifting-weights department), but I can now deadlift 145 pounds (six times in a row, no less).   Check out the link provided for a detailed explanation and pictures of a buff body-builder dude demonstrating proper technique.

My trainer was pretty excited Wednesday when I gave him permission to video my deadlift.
No, you don’t get to see me working my butt off.  Of course, it may show up on YouTube by the time this is posted. The video really doesn't do me justice!  My face is all red; my eyes are popping; the veins in my neck are bulging big time; and it's obvious my abs are still sleeping on the job!

I’ve been getting high fives from the rest of the staff like I’m some celebrity.  Who knew!  Maybe they really like my blog.  Of course how often do you see an old lady (oh wait, sixty is the new fifty; yes, I realize if you're thirty-something, I'm ancient, but your time will come, too; really, life just keeps getting better) performing one of the three canonical powerlifting exercises.

Don’t ask; on a need to know basis, I assure you, you don’t need to know anything more about deadlifts  other than the fact the move involves about twenty-eight different muscles (and that's not counting the forty-plus muscles in my face getting a workout, either) working in synch and overtime. When you consider I'm generally very happy with a two-for-one sale on shoes, jewelry, clothing, etc. there's no doubt the deadlift was beyond my wildest dreams although it felt like a nightmare when I was in the throes of the moment.

It was much less painful accomplishing a milestone in the life of my blog this week - my 200th post!  Let's party!  I'll start with some Fun Fotos; you grab the refreshments!

You definitely have a warped sense of humor regarding your FFF's.

Are you sure those buff body builder pix aren't you in diguise? YOU really HAVE been working out!

Gee, maybe there's a male look alike out there, just like most of us have a same sex look alike. Never know.
