7 TRANSFORMATIONAL TRAVEL TRUTHS

1/7/2014

Misery loves company.

Click that little “Like” button below if you’re battling the polar vortex and artic temperatures covering much of the U.S.  It's currently thirteen below in sunny Chicago; the wind chill makes it feel like twenty below.

I for one will be spending the day in my cozy PJ’s, thick socks and fuzzy slippers.  Slim chance anyone will come knocking on my door; even slimmer chance of me opening the door to brave the elements.

Besides, I’m coming off a two-week holiday hiatus that has my muse manic for expression; two days holed up in the house are just what I need.  I blew through my favorite travel quotes and pictures that you can now find under the new Tao of Travel tab at the top of the page; even added a few new websites to my Blog Roll before coming up with today’s 7 Transformational Travel Truths.

I’m feeling the need for a bit of reflection, especially given I’ve yet to commit to any New Year resolutions.   I’ve always been a late bloomer.

7 TRANSFORMATIONAL TRAVEL TRUTHS

1. Every trip, every destination, whether around the corner or around the world, confirms my belief that our planet is an endlessly fascinating place to explore.

2.  The best of travel is a leap into the dark that challenges and changes us for the better.

3.  Mark Twain said it best: “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness.”

4. Travel is as much about the inner journey as the outer journey.

5. Living in the moment, seeing, hearing, tasting and feeling each new travel experience, has made a world of difference in living my moments back home.

6.  Going, seeing, and doing is far more valuable than acquiring things.

7.  The more people I meet, the more places I see, the more respect and admiration I have for my fellow man.

Love to find myself in your travels! I wonder what those men thought of us in the K & K Restaurant in Salzburg?

The down side of traveling with me, for sure - having your picture pop up unexpectedly in my blog. You're sooooo gracious! Fun though sharing the memories!
